This is one of five project entries for Abbeyfest 2010. Based on a local myth which in turn is based on a few grains of fact, In Search of the Red Beggar hopes to use local knowledge-both modern and contemporary sources to find the truth behind this mysterious character and his legacy that is Poormansbridge, built from the considerable money found in the red woolly nightcap that became his trademark and lent to his name. By using reconstructions, in depth research, interviews and important local literature we hope to uncover the truth behind the legend.

Synopsis:

The Red Beggar-colourful character from local folklore or true story of a man whose story reflects the hardships and uncertainties of a turbulent time in our country's history.
