Dreamers & Weepers - More updates

We were shooting this weekend and got beaten by the weather so we're still a few scenes down. But we'll keep plugging away. This film is nearly there and were hoping to have a rough cut at the very least for the next Crewger gig. It would be nice to see a very early reaction to the film from an audience. However, not a lot will change as the clear vision of where its going, what its saying and how it does it, is done and dusted. I think its fair to say that on this project I've been as unorthodox as ever. It wasn't intentional. It just seems to happen that way. If you decide to go down the road of making a short film with defined key personal and a strict schedule then so be it. If your resources allow you to do that, well done. Me? Well, I'm really enjoying the madness of it all including the despondency. The story is there. All I care about is making this film as visually depressing as possible. Black and White helps, but then costumes, props and locations help. This is not a happy film and it's certainly the longest I've made at approx 25 mins. I think we've tapped into a good subject and other short filmmakers will try to piggyback on our theme. But right now we're the first and it feels good to be doing it. This film is raw, in your face, relevent yet so simple in its essence and most of all, honest in it's application. There is no over indulgence. We are telling a story and we don't want it tarnished by egos in terms of Direction, Photography or soundtrack. I suppose thats a mistake a lot of fledgling filmmakers make. Too much time spent on emulating the big budget camera work and lighting. Whats the point? We just got on with being as professional as possible and delivering a film that may strike a cord.
