Yo Yo!
We are hitting the ground running here at over at Crewger Events head office, with not one but two rocking events coming up in June.
- June 5th - The Shed
- June 13th - Abbeyleix - showcasing the best of the best so far on Crewger as well as the work of local artists.
Details below - more to follow:
'Are you a comedian, filmmaker, writer, painter, singer, musician, actor or performer from or living in the midlands? Are you interested in showcasing your work locally in conjunction with Ireland's largest growing online network of artists?
Crewger is taking its hugely successful run of events for local artists on the road, with screenings and festivals to be held nationwide over the coming months.
What?
Our goal is to run a festival that reflects the work of our artists. As such we are sending out an open call for artists to submit ideas for the festival and we will mould the look and feel of the event around these submissions.
This event is designed to showcase the work of all artists in the Laois area and as such we are open to any and all forms of artistic expression.
Where
Abbeyleix, Co Laois.
We will be organising 5 venues in the town, each with its own unique feel, again depending on the types of material we will be showcasing. These will include 2 bars, one restaurant, 2 ‘open spaces' and an outdoor venue for buskers.
When
The weekend of June 13th. Depending on the amount of entrants, we may decide to run it from Friday June 12th to Sunday June 14th.
Who
Crewger is all about empowering all artists from students to established names. We are building a strong online network of artists from all backgrounds nationwide and providing them with the contacts and the resources they need to develop projects and find their audience.
The aim is to provide a social networking, project management and exhibition service for all artists. Crewger is different because you control the content and you decide what is showcased at these events.
Why?
The hope is that this will become the model for future events to be held by members in towns all over Ireland.
The event is in aid of Development Perspectives, and all proceeds will go directly towards building a sports facility in a rural village close to Mosuma, Tanzania. Admission to the venues is free, and there will be collections made on the night and in the preceding weeks.
How do I get involved?
To put yourself forward for the event (as an artist or indeed a volunteer), email brendan[at]crewger.ie with your name and contact details, some background information, details of the piece you would like to showcase and confirmation that you will be available on the weekend of June 13th.
