Crewger, Ireland's new collaborative film-making website, is taking its hugely successful run of events for local artists on the road, with screenings and festivals to be held nationwide over the coming weeks and months.
Crewger is all about empowering artists. We are building a strong network of artists from all backgrounds nationwide and providing them with the contacts and the resources they need to develop projects and find their audience.
The aim is to provide a social networking, project management and exhibition service for all artists, from students to established names.
What's different about Crewger?
The difference is:
- YOU control the content
- YOU organise the events
The site is currently in its prototype stage and we are working hard on a new site to be launched in September, designed specifically for filmmakers. This network will be expanded into all of the arts in 2010.
What kind of event is being run in Abbeyleix and who is running it?
To get the ball rolling, a network of members from the Laois area are organising their first event in Abbeyleix the weekend of June 13th. Depending on the number of artists that can make themselves available, we may decide to run it over the entire weekend.
We are organising 3 venues in the town, each with its own unique feel, again depending on the types of material we will be showcasing.
The event is in aid of Development Perspectives, and all proceeds will go directly towards building a sports facility in a rural village close to Mosuma, Tanzania. Admission to the venues is free, and there will be collections made on the night and in the preceding weeks.
The hope is that this will become the model for future events to be held by members in towns all over Ireland.
How do I get involved?
To put yourself forward for the event, email brendan[at]crewger.ie with your name and contact details, some background information, details of the piece you would like to showcase and confirmation that you will be available on the weekend of June 13th.
To find out more, please visit www.crewger.ie or call Brendan on 087 2925294.
REMEMBER - YOU CONTROL THE CONTENT
This event is designed to showcase the work of all artists in the Laois area and as such we are open to any and all forms of artistic expression.'
